Privacy and Confidentiality Statement for Continuing Education Activities
In accordance with accreditation standards, MCHS activities participating in Continuing Medical Education (CME), Continuing Pharmacy Education (CPE), Commission on Accreditation for Prehospital Continuing Education (CAPCE) or other Continuing Education (CE), whether on the internet or in person, shall comply with all privacy and confidentiality procedures as outlined below.
Privacy and Confidentiality
MCHS is committed to protecting the privacy and confidentiality of all its learners and fully complies with all state and federal laws governing privacy and confidentiality. MCHS maintains its internet site as an information resource and service for a variety of users to include, but not limited to, potential and current students, physicians, faculty, staff, and other health care professionals. Upon registration, certain personally identifiable information must be collected, such as names, email addresses, mailing addresses, payment information, etc. MCHS also collects aggregated non-personally identifiable information, such as job title or workplace.
Information collected may be used for the following purposes:

To meet accreditation needs/reporting requirements:
- MCHS is accredited by the Wisconsin Medical Society to provide CME for physicians, the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (CPE), and the Commission on Accreditation for Pre-Hospital Continuing Education (CAPCE)
- As an accredited entity, MCHS is required to periodically submit aggregated data about learners and accredited activities. These reports may include personally identifiable information about learners and credits issued/awarded, for the purpose of maintaining records that can be requested from accreditors for up to six (6) years

If/when applicable, Joint Providers and commercial supporters of CE activities will receive aggregated data only from activities deemed relevant by CME Staff

MCHS CME Staff will have internal access to files containing personally identifiable information, including evaluation forms and aggregated learner information. These files can be accessed as needed to respond to questions or comments.

MCHS may also use personally identifiable information, including registration information and evaluation data, in assessing educational needs, improve activities, and/or create market analysis
Protection and Storage of Information
MCHS has implemented technology and security policies, rules and other measures to protect personal data from unauthorized access, improper use, alteration, unlawful or accidental destruction, and accidental loss, please reference MCHS’s

MCHS requires all employees and others who have access to or are associated with the processing of personal data to respect confidentiality as noted in Chapter 3 of the Corporate Compliance Handbook. Personally identifiable information shared with MCHS is stored on protected database servers. To prevent unauthorized access, maintain data accuracy, and ensure the appropriate use of information, MCHS has put in place appropriate physical, electronic, and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure the information collected. MCHS uses encryption when collecting or transferring sensitive data such as credit card information. Physical access to the servers requires individual authorization and authentication.
