Provider Ratings and Patient Experience Surveys

When you complete a survey about your visit, you are participating in improving the patient experience at Marshfield Clinic. Your reviews and comments allow our team to regularly evaluate patient experience and improve care.

Marshfield Clinic wants to share this feedback with you. We started by publicly sharing provider star ratings, and have now added your comments. Having access to this information can help you choose a provider who meets your health care needs.

Where do surveys, ratings and comments come from?

Marshfield Clinic partners with Press Ganey, a leading patient experience survey vendor. Patients may receive a survey from Press Ganey by mail or email after their appointment.

We publish all other comment language to be transparent and to provide you with the necessary information to choose the best provider for you.

What survey questions are used to calculate star ratings?

Marshfield Clinic calculates star ratings from the following survey questions:

  • Friendliness/courtesy of the care provider
  • Explanations the care provider gave you about your problem or condition
  • Concern the care provider showed for your questions or worries
  • Care provider's efforts to include you in decisions about your treatment
  • Information the care provider gave you about medications (if any)
  • Instructions the care provider gave you about follow-up care (if any)
  • Degree to which care provider talked with you using words you could understand
  • Amount of time the care provider spent with you
  • Your confidence in the care provider
  • Likelihood of your recommending the care provider to others

Why don't all providers have ratings?

Some providers do not have star ratings for one or more of the following reasons:

  • The provider does not see patients in the outpatient clinic setting.
  • The provider does not have enough feedback. To be eligible for display, star ratings are developed from a minimum of 30 surveys.
