Considering breast augmentation?

Hundreds of thousands of women choose breast implant surgery each year.

Marshfield Clinic plastic surgeons are extremely qualified to perform augmentation. Along with selecting an experienced surgeon, you’ll need to decide which options are right for you, including size, type and placement.

Breast implants are made of a silicone shell and are filled with saline (saltwater) or silicone gel. Both come in a variety of shapes, sizes and textures.

Make the most of your consultation

In the initial consultation, your doctor will discuss your personal expectations and make an assessment based upon your anatomy. Together you’ll talk about the implant styles and placement of them.

This is the time to understand all of your options including whether or not other procedures make sense, such as a breast lift in conjunction with augmentation. You’ll also learn about the surgery and recovery process.

Help surgery go smoothly

Breast augmentation is an outpatient procedure. You can do your part by closely following the doctor’s instructions before and after surgery.

Recovery affects results

After the procedure, you will be taken to a recovery room. Pain medication will be offered. When ready, you’ll be able to go home with an adult family member or friend. It’s extremely important to follow all of your doctor’s for a successful recovery.

Expect a follow-up visit so the doctor can see your progress. As with all surgical procedures, there are risks. Discuss them with your doctor so you’re fully informed and satisfied.
