Marshfield Medical Center-Beaver Dam Volunteer Services

Enriching the community an hour at a time

Marshfield Medical Center-Beaver Dam is incredibly blessed to have such a wonderful team of volunteers to support services throughout the organization. Volunteers play an important role in supporting every patient, resident, visitor and child, every day.

Volunteers are diverse in their backgrounds and ages. Student volunteers interested in pursuing careers in health care find Marshfield Medical Center-Beaver Dam an exciting place to observe health care professionals at work. Newcomers to the community find that volunteering helps them to become familiar with the hospital’s programs and services. Parents of school-age children find that flexible volunteer schedules fit their busy lifestyles. Retirees and “empty nesters” contribute their time and experience regularly, making a real difference in the lives of so many of their fellow community members.

One thing all of our volunteers have in common is their generosity. They give of themselves by sharing their goodwill, energy, and abilities in many ways.

Become a hospice volunteer

Hospice volunteers are people of all ages and backgrounds. All have a desire to make a difference in someone else’s life by sharing their time, special talents and compassion with those dealing with a terminal illness.

Hospice volunteers may sit with a patient so the caregiver can make a doctor’s appointment, trip to the store or take a break or nap. They might cook the evening meal, do some light cleaning, run errands or sometimes most importantly, sit at the bedside and be a quiet, comforting presence. Hospice volunteers provide valuable clerical assistance to the staff in the Hospice office and participate in the bereavement services offered to family members after the death of their loved one.
