“I try to make sure that each patient gets my full, 100 percent attention in whatever I’m doing.”
Dr. Elmer Lehman planned to be a family medicine physician. During his rotations in surgery, he found his calling and gravitated toward obstetrics and gynecology. As a gynecologic oncologist, Dr. Lehman is one of 2,000 physicians who practice this specialty.
“I take great pride in what I do and how well I do it,” he said.
Dr. Lehman cares for women who have cancer conditions related to their female reproductive organs like uterus, ovaries, vulva and cervix. He has expertise in performing advanced surgery as well as managing care through evaluations and treatment.
As a surgeon at heart, Dr. Lehman makes sure to focus on his patients individually. He wants patients to understand their care and work together with them. After surgery, patients will continue to see Dr. Lehman for wellness evaluations.
“The best part for me is when at the five-year mark, I can tell a woman, you’re cancer free,” he said. “That’s the best feeling there is.”
Dr. Lehman earned his medical degree from Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee, followed by a residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Columbia St. Mary’s in Milwaukee. He completed his fellowship in gynecology oncology at the University of Texas - MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas.
Dr. Lehman and his wife have six children. Outside of his practice, he enjoys golf, photography and astrophotography.
