"Creating a relationship with patients is rewarding and why I enjoy coming to work every day."
As a gastroenterology physician assistant, Anna Sonnenberg consults with patients about issues with their digestive system. This includes providing treatment plans and follow-up care.
Anna’s focus is to make sure patients feel heard. She does her best to educate and explain their options for treatment, allowing the patient to make informed decisions pertaining to their health care.
In order to help her patients through their illness, Anna understands creating a relationship with her patients is valuable.
“It is really important that my patients feel comfortable so they are willing to share the important information I need to help them,” she said.
To do this, Sonnenberg tries to get to know each patient. This includes the specific symptoms they have and learning about their health history.
“I try to be attentive to my patients and not downplay their symptoms,” said Anna. “I take every complaint seriously so that I can answer all of my patient’s questions.”
Anna earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. She then went on to receive her master’s in physician assistant studies from Concordia University in Mequon, Wisconsin.
Anna enjoys reading, being outdoors and crafty project, but enjoys hanging out with friends and family the most.
