As a gastroenterology nurse practitioner, Wayne Kellander provides care for patients experiencing problems with their digestive system including heartburn, unexplained abdominal pain and inflammatory bowel conditions.
When he was a nurse, Wayne was surrounded by excellent nurse practitioners that provided immensely helpful care to the local, rural community.
“I decided to take the leap so that I could become part of that team for the community,” Wayne said. “I see providing excellent, local, evidence-based and price-appropriate care as the best way to ensure my community grows and lives their healthiest life.”
As a provider, he believes proper symptom control and intervention is important. This includes a cost-effective evaluation that requires listening to what the patient is experiencing and reassuring them.
“I think the part of my practice that I am most passionate about is problem-solving. I want to ensure that the patient has the appropriate diagnosis and with that diagnosis, has evidence-based recommendations for their personalized treatment,” Wayne said.
Wayne received his doctor of nursing practice as a family nurse practitioner from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire.
As a member of the Army for several years, Wayne’s big hobby today is raising his family. He also enjoys woodworking and gardening.
