“The patient doesn’t care how much you know, until they know how much you care.”
Dr. Uzoma Okorie is a pediatric cardiologist who treats infants to older children for a variety of heart conditions and diseases.
He sees patients in Marshfield, Stevens Point, Eau Claire, Wisconsin Rapids, Wausau and Weston.
He said he was attracted to his specialty at a very young age when he saw a child, one of his mother’s students, with congenital heart disease. “I had it in mind all through medical school, and my clinical rotations confirmed it,” he said. “I’ve always liked children and their outcomes are typically great. It’s a very gratifying field.”
Dr. Okorie earned his medical degree at Weill Medical College of Cornell University in New York. He completed a pediatrics residency at New York Presbyterian Hospital-Weill Cornell Medical Center, and his pediatric cardiology fellowship at New York University Langone Medical Center in New York.
He is married to Asha Okorie, M.D., an ophthalmologist who also joined the Clinic, so the Clinic was a good fit for both of them.
He enjoys watching football and soccer and playing table tennis, volleyball, and board games including Chess and Scrabble.
