“I value connecting patients with the right services and resources so they can live their best life.”
As a gastroenterology nurse practitioner, Sarah Steinhoff, D.N.P., helps manage patients with multiple gastrointestinal conditions including chronic diarrhea, constipation, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease.
With past experience shadowing at a local Aging and Disability Resource Center (ADRC), Sarah recognizes the importance in connecting patients, especially older adults, with the right community resources to enhance their home recovery and healing.
“Not every patient can afford a test every two weeks or can hop in a car when they need a visit, so I always try to be as patient-centered as possible when it comes to time and finances,” Sarah said. “If you don’t take the time to listen, your patients are not going to be satisfied.”
As a part of this patient-centered care, Sarah has a passion for working with her patients to prevent chronic conditions from worsening.
“When I worked in an intensive care unit, I noticed how complicated surgical procedures can be for some individuals,” Sarah said. “I have a passion for managing chronic conditions so they don’t worsen and require surgery.”
As a native of northern Wisconsin, Sarah received her doctorate in nursing from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. She is a board-certified adult-gerontology primary care nurse practitioner.
In her free time, Sarah and her husband enjoy taking their rescue dog for hikes on trails in central Wisconsin. She is also an avid reader.
