Preeti Adeshara, M.D., is passionate about serving her community.
“Being a general practitioner gives you the ability to connect to the community," Dr. Adeshara said. “Participating in community care at the very foundation level is what I enjoy most. I love being able to guide them and provide direction based on their needs."
Dr. Adeshara, a board-certified family medicine physician, coordinates and cares for patients of all ages and varying conditions from diagnosing and treating long-term conditions to common medical problems, and providing wellness care and prevention efforts.
She treats chronic conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, high cholesterol, asthma, depression, arthritis and other acute conditions.
Dr. Adeshara went into medicine to better serve the community through medicine. She chose family medicine for the variety in patients.
“I wanted to have diversity in my practice and serve all age groups of patients," she said. “I also wanted to be able to be the first contact for the patient to build a strong foundation for their health."
“I am a good listener and take time to understand the issue and try to solve it," she said.
Having the opportunity to help the whole family is important to Dr. Adeshara.
“I love all aspects of family medicine. I enjoy being a family physician for the whole family – not just individuals," she said. “I love the core of family medicine."
Dr. Adeshara earned her medical degree from the Medical College of Baroda in Vadodara, India, and completed a residency in family medicine at the University of Alabama-Birmingham.
In her free time, Dr. Adeshara enjoys hiking, biking, cooking and gathering with friends. She auditioned for talent shows in India, such as Indian Idol, as a singer. She and her husband have one son.
