Natalie Zuelke grew up in central Wisconsin, and being surrounded by rural communities, always had the desire to serve medically-underserved and rural communities throughout Wisconsin.
“I truly believe there is no better way to serve your community than being a primary care provider," Zuelke said. “…I ultimately chose this specialty because I enjoy the challenge and depth primary care provides…I enjoy serving patients across their entire lifespan, helping prevent illnesses like high blood pressure, manage chronic conditions like diabetes and treat acute problems such as minor aches and pains."
Zuelke received her Bachelor of Science degree in community health and public health education from the University of Wisconsin – La Crosse.
Her goal was to pursue a career where she could incorporate two of her deepest passions: health education and medicine while providing lifelong learning opportunities. She went on to receive her master's in physician assistant studies with an emphasis in rural healthcare from the University of Wisconsin Madison School of Medicine and Public Health.
She sees patients for chronic disease management including diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, asthma, COPD and various skin conditions. She sees acute conditions that include respiratory infections, UTIs, STIs and minor aches, pains, or sprains.
She is passionate in addressing women's health concerns including contraception, mental health and behavioral health conditions.
As a provider, she strives to put the needs of her patients first.
“I believe the key to addressing an individuals' health concerns and goals of care is to practice a holistic patient-centered approach while establishing lasting rapport," she said. “The definition of wellness is different for every individual. My goal is to help educate and guide patients toward healthful decisions that support their unique definition of wellness."
Most importantly, Zuelke wants her patients to feel empowered to be their own health care advocates and feel comfortable voicing their concerns.
Outside of work, she enjoys being active and spending her free time in the Northwoods of Wisconsin with her husband and their dog, Bruce. She also enjoys running, biking, hiking and high-intensity interval training. They also enjoy spending time at their cabin in Hayward fishing and exploring the outdoors.
