Dr. Munir Idriss is a fellowship-trained dermatologic surgeon specializing in micrographic surgery and dermatologic oncology. Most of his work includes helping patients who have skin cancer.
Tough childhood experiences lead to a career in health care for Dr. Idriss and a desire to help others in need.
“I was raised in a community with barely basic medical care," Dr. Idriss said. “I witnessed firsthand the personal and societal consequences of the lack of standard care."
Dr. Idriss uses a surgical method of skin cancer removal known as Mohs surgery which can achieve cure rates as high as 99%. Sharing good news following an operation is the highlight of his work.
“I strive to treat each patient with the utmost care, compassion and the best of my abilities for the best possible outcome," Dr. Idriss said. “After a successful surgery, telling my patients that they are cancer-free and feeling their sigh of relief and sense of hope keeps me going every day."
Dr. Idriss earned his medical degree at Addis Ababa University in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. He completed his dermatology residency at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. Additionally, Dr. Idriss completed his fellowship in dermatopathology at Ackerman Academy of Dermatopathology in New York, New York and another fellowship in Mohs micrographic surgery and dermatologic oncology at University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas.
In his spare time, Dr. Idriss enjoys cooking, traveling to exotic destinations and completing DIY projects around his home.
