Megan Messerschmidt is a Doctor of Nursing Practice provider who cares for patients in OB-GYN. Transitioning from Internal Medicine to OB-GYN will allow her to help other women with a variety of life changes. Women's health has always been a passion of hers.
“Women go through various changes during their lifespan, and I enjoy helping them through those stages," she said. “Whether that be helping adolescents manage their menstrual cycle, caring for women during pregnancy or working through infertility and again caring for them during the peri-menopausal/menopausal period."
After working as a certified nursing assistant, Messerschmidt went to become a registered nurse, then advanced her career to be able to help her patients more directly.
“I've always been interested in making a difference in peoples' lives," said Messerschmidt. “Becoming a nurse practitioner allowed me to play a bigger part in that."
She strives to be open and personable with her patients and provide care in a nonjudgmental manner. Her goal is to help you better understand what is going on with your body in terms you understand.
“I feel it is best to genuinely listen to patients and find an understanding of what the root of their problem may be," Messerschmidt said. “I provide reassurance and offer different treatment options, and then we work together to come up with the best plan."
Messerschmidt grew up in the Wausau area. She says she is happy to continue to call it home. She is married to her high school sweetheart with one son. In her free time, she and her family enjoy camping, hiking and snowmobiling.
