“One of the reasons I joined Marshfield Clinic is they allow me to focus my attention on patient care.”
As a cardiologist, Dr. M. Diaa Alaoua provides advanced heart care using sophisticated dianostic tools and procedures.
Rice Lake Wisconsin is a long way from Syria, but Dr. Alaoua has found both personal and professional fulfillment in northwest Wisconsin. He completed his residency in Detroit and launched his medical career in Chicago before Marshfield Clinic recruited him for a job at the Rice Lake Center in 2007. Heart care patients have been in good hands ever since. Dr. Alaoua, a nationally recognized cardiologist, is anchoring a heart care program unrivaled in the region.
“I used to share the mistaken belief that a physician had to be in a big city to be part of advanced care,” he explains. “Marshfield Clinic has advanced technology I never saw in Detroit or Chicago.”
Alaoua has twice has been named among America’s top physicians, most recently in 2008. This father of four says he shares a lot in common with his Rice Lake Center patients. “This area has values that closely match my own,” he said. “When someone gets sick, the entire family comes in. I like being there to answer questions and ensure that the patient is going to get the emotional support once they go home.”
Alaoua presence allows heart care patients to get heart care close to home. They don’t have to drive long distances to access high quality care as they did a decade ago. Patients can receive treatment and undergo tests such as EKG’s and echocardiograms at the Rice Lake Center. It’s a convenience that can directly be attributed to a big city physician who gave small town medicine a try.
