“I approach each patient individually, while understanding that the nervous system has key elements that are common to all humans."
Dr. Lisa Albanese is a physiatrist who seeks to help patients with pain management in all stages of their life. She sees patients with conditions such as arthritis, fibromyalgia and nerve pain, among others.
Dr. Albanese was drawn to physiatry because of the ability to connect all aspects of a patient's life.
“Physiatrists evaluate not only the internal biologic environment of a patient, but also their surrounding environment," Dr. Albanese said. “A patient's physical, mental, emotional, environmental and social well-being are taken into consideration in a team approach. I found this to be a much more comprehensive way to help others thrive."
Honest dialogue with her patients is the driving philosophy to Dr. Albanese's method of care. She works to make sure the patients are involved in developing an attainable care plan.
“I work with each patient where they are in life, find out their goals and aspirations, and help guide them to appropriate treatments and lifestyle changes that will help them succeed at achieving those goals," Dr. Albanese said. “I absolutely love it when patients come back and they're able to do things they thought they'd never do again."
Dr. Albanese earned her medical degree at the University of Wisconsin in Madison. She completed her residency at Atrium Health Carolinas Rehabilitation in Charlotte, North Carolina.
In her spare time, Dr. Albanese enjoys cross country skiing and hiking with her dogs.
