“My goal is to partner with my patients to build a trusting relationship and design an individualized treatment plan."
Leah Matuszewski is a board-certified advanced practice nurse practitioner who provides medical care and treatment to adult patients. She has experience as a Hospitalist Nurse Practitioner, as well as was an emergency department nurse for many years before continuing her education to become a nurse practitioner.
“I've always had the goal of expanding my knowledge and scope of practice," said Leah. “The transition from nurse to provider means that I am able to facilitate holistic, evidence-based and patient-centered care, while working collaboratively with other providers and staff."
Leah says a career in health care has been incredibly satisfying so far. She enjoys its complexity and a connection between effort and reward.
“It is not how much money we make that ultimately makes us happy. It's whether our work fulfills us," Leah said. “The ability to significantly improve the quality of life of your patients is tremendously rewarding."
Leah received her bachelor's in nursing from Northern Illinois University. She attended Walden University in Minneapolis, Minnesota for her master's degree before being certified as a family nurse practitioner there.
Leah is married and has two daughters. In her spare time, she says the family likes to be outdoors, fish and spend time 'up north.'
