"I want to establish a good rapport with my patients and get to know them on a personal level.”
Growing up in Chippewa Falls, Dr. Laiken Warrick remembers enjoying going to the doctor. However, it wasn’t until he did some career shadowing with Marshfield Clinic Health System when he realized he wanted to pursue medicine.
As an internal medicine provider, Dr. Warrick focuses on adult care and enjoys the mixture of patient interaction and scientific thinking. He coordinates and cares for
patients of varying conditions from diagnosing and treating
long-term conditions to common medical problems and providing wellness care and
prevention efforts.
From the beginning, Dr. Warrick knew he wanted to work in a small town in Wisconsin, similar to where he and his wife grew up.
“I was inspired by one of the providers because I saw her great rapport with patients,” he said. “Over half the visit would be talking about the patient’s family and personal life. I like how she did that and I knew I would be interested in doing the same with my patients.”
“I like the long-term relationships and partnerships you can establish with patients,” Dr. Warrick said. “I want to be someone’s doctor during the middle-aged years all the way to when they are elderly. Then, I will see their kids later on. I always thought that was great to care for someone through the years and decades.”
Dr. Warrick strives to help patients be an advocate for their health. He takes time to explain the treatment plan and answer any questions or concerns for each patient.
Dr. Warrick earned his medical degree from Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine in Scranton, Pennsylvania. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine with Marshfield Clinic Health System in Marshfield.
Any free time that Dr. Warrick has is dedicated to his family. He and his wife have one daughter. Dr. Warrick also is a big Wisconsin sports fan – Badgers, Packers, Brewers, Bucks – to name a few.
