Kelly Olson has a fascination with the heart. As long as she can remember, she wanted to someday work in health care and specifically in cardiology. That dream is now a reality for Olson as she helps heart care patients every day at Marshfield Medical Center-Rice Lake as a cardiology nurse practitioner. Working alongside M. Diaa Alaoua, heart care patients in northwest Wisconsin are in good hands.
“I love my job," she says. “Working to make a difference in the day to day care of heart care patients is so rewarding. Working with such a wonderful physician and staff at Marshfield Clinic Health System is an added bonus."
Olson, a Chetek resident, is very familiar with northwest Wisconsin. She spent 13 years working at Lakeview Medical Center before joining the Health System in October of 2011. She received her undergraduate degree from Viterbo College in La Crosse, WI. In 2011 she earned her master's degree in nursing from UW-Eau Claire. Her experience includes six and a half years as a nurse in the Lakeview Medical Center Emergency Department followed by nearly two years as a nurse practitioner in the same department.
She is impressed with the dedication of the Health System providers and staff. “There are so many wonderful employees here all working toward the common goal of providing excellent patient experiences," she said. “I am honored to call them my work family."
Olson's own family includes her husband and two children, a son and daughter. She enjoys running, fishing and watching the Green Bay Packers.
