“Education is so empowering. It allows patients to understand their disease process.”

Provider Bio down arrow

As an oncology nurse practitioner, Katy Anderson provides care for people with symptomatic issues related to cancer treatments, the disease itself or many secondary diagnoses.

Katy was interested in caring for patients with cancer because of her previous experience working in an oncology unit when she was a registered nurse.

“I learned a lot and found it a really rewarding group of patients to care for,” Katy said. “So when a position opened up, I was very excited about the opportunity to serve those with cancer again.”

Now a nurse practitioner, Katy is excited about the opportunity she has to impact many people each day.

She believes providing education is key to making that lasting impact. Katy feels education can be empowering and is important to help patients make the best health decisions for themselves.

“Education is important so that patients understand their disease process to help them make a decision,” Katy said. “I can’t make the decision for them.”

Katy received her master’s in nursing from Maryville University in St. Louis, Missouri. As a Wisconsin native, Katy and her husband were excited to get back to Wisconsin to raise their two young children. In her spare time, Katy enjoys bird watching and hiking.
