Dr. Ohde treats patients who are experiencing symptoms and conditions of the gastrointestinal (GI) tract and digestive system. She treats hernias, dysphagia (difficulty swallowing) and gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD).
GI surgery is a constantly evolving field. Dr. Ohde comes from a science background and enjoys the challenge and advanced techniques she can use to help her patients. “I found medicine was a way that I can use science in a practical and fulfilling way," she said.
She uses advanced technology like robotics to assist her during hernia repair. Her expertise also extends to complex abdominal wall reconstruction, and minimally invasive options for treating GERD. “I enjoy being able to give my patients the most advanced and least invasive treatment options," Dr. Ohde said.
Dr. Ohde earned her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from Des Moines University – College of Osteopathic Medicine in Iowa. She completed her general surgery residency at Ascension Macomb-Oakland in Michigan and a fellowship in minimally invasive foregut surgery at AHN Esophageal Institute in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
She's happy to return to the Midwest so she can be closer to family. While not at work, she enjoys hiking, skiing, volleyball and cooking.
