Dr. Jan “Jasio” Goral joined the OB/GYN department in 2020. He is certified in Da Vinci robotic laparoscopic surgery and has a special interest in research to improve patient outcomes and recovery after Cesarean Section to reduce the use of opioids.
A Minocqua native, Dr. Goral is the son of two prominent Marshfield Clinic Health System physicians in the Northwoods; Dr. Tomaz Goral, retired Internal Medicine physician and Dr. Joanna Gudel, longtime pediatrician.
“My parents definitely had an influence in my choice of career,” said Dr. Goral. “I returned to this area as I am now married with two young girls and this is a great place to raise children. I have great friends and roots in the Minocqua area and am very excited to have moved back home to practice here.”
Goral also values community service. He completed a medical mission to Iloilo in the Philippines volunteering to perform hysterectomies, gynecologic procedures and doing cervical cancer screening and cryotherapy for underserved communities in this rural area.
Dr. Goral received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin in La Crosse. He went on to achieve his medical degree at St. George’s University School of Medicine in Grenada, West Indies and his OB/GYN Residency at Saint Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston, New Jersey.
“In my free time I enjoy waterskiing, downhill skiing, snowmobiling, mountain biking, boating, SCUBA diving, cooking and travel,” he said.
