Nurse Practitioner Breanna Zimmermann remembers wanting to be a nurse practitioner at a young age. As a child, Breanna had a nurse practitioner for her primary provider, who was a positive influence and a great role model.
“Throughout my life, my mom has always pushed me to achieve this goal (to become a nurse practitioner),” Breanna said. “After being a nurse for a few years, I knew that I still had the determination to become an NP. I thought I would take one class and see if I liked it. Three years later, I couldn’t have been more proud to earn my degree and pass my boards, achieving a long time dream.”
Breanna also has a passion for women’s health. During her five years as an operating room nurse, she specialized in gastrointestinal, gynecological and urological procedures. Gynecology was one of the areas that came naturally to her.
“I love the diversity that OB/GYN encompasses, caring for women across their lifespan,” she said.
Her practice includes yearly physicals to birth control discussions, abnormal bleeding, menopausal symptoms and obstetrical care in the clinic setting. She also assists physicians with cesarean sections and gynecological surgeries.
“I am passionate about making patients feel comfortable expressing issues and working with them to solve those problems,” she said. “Patient’s cultural, spiritual and personal beliefs influence the decisions on care. By listening to their concerns, all treatment options can be tailored to a personalized plan.”
As Marshfield natives, Breanna and her husband enjoy having family close by. The couple loves spending time outside, especially with their two children. In the winter months, her family loves sledding and snowmobiling. In the summer, they love campfires and UTV rides.
