Barbara Boyer, M.D., FACS, provides general surgical services. She conducts all aspects of surgery including breast cancer surgery, but she especially enjoys providing minimally invasive surgery such as laparoscopic surgeries. Dr. Boyer also performs upper gastrointestinal endoscopies and colonoscopies.
Dr. Boyer was born in Milwaukee. When she was five, her family moved to the Minocqua area. She says she chose to establish her surgical practice in northern Wisconsin because of the quality of medical care in the community and her connections to and love for the Northwoods.
“The best part of working here is caring for members of the community in which I live, and amongst whom I was raised. It is a wonderful area to work, live and raise a family,” she says.
Dr. Boyer completed her medical training at the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee. She then completed her internship and residency at the University of Utah Health Sciences Center in Salt Lake City, Utah. She is a member of the American College of Surgeons and the Wisconsin Surgical Society. She is licensed to practice in Wisconsin.
Dr. Boyer says she feels privileged to have dedicated and highly skilled physician assistants and partners on the surgical team.
Dr. Boyer is married and has five children. In her spare time, she enjoys tending to her garden and watching ice hockey games. She looks forward to her sailing adventures.
