Physician Assistant Alyssa Schwanda was inspired to go into medicine by her parents. Her father is a retired Marshfield Clinic Health System physician, who served in Internal Medicine for more than 30 years.
“My father had a definite influence in my choice of career,” Alyssa said. “My mother, being a dialysis nurse, also played a huge role. I’ve wanted to go into health care for as long as I can remember.”
Alyssa is passionate about health care, and has special interests in caring for women and children but she is excited to work with patients of all ages. As a provider, Alyssa listens to her patients
without judgement to learn about their personal health goals.
She earned her master’s degree in Physician Assistant studies from the University of Wisconsin in Madison after attaining her bachelor’s degree in biology at the University of Wisconsin in La Crosse.
As a Minocqua native, Alyssa said there is no place she’d rather be to raise her family. After traveling the country and living in the south, she knew she wanted to return to Minocqua for her practice.
“I grew up with and love the people here, and I am happy to contribute to the health and wellness of the community,” she said.
“Family has always been what matters most to me, and being able to raise our kids where we grew up is a dream come true for my husband and I.”
