Dr. Alexis Whaley enjoys the many facets of pediatrics, including newborns, infant well-care, childhood development, adolescent care, children with special needs and inpatient care.
“It is truly a gift to walk with a family as they raise a child," she said.
A board-certified pediatrician, Dr. Whaley provides well-child visits, treats children when they are sick and manages chronic or ongoing medical conditions. She also provides care for and specializes in delivery attendance, neonatal care, sleep medicine and sleep studies, inpatient medicine and concussion care.
She chose a career in medicine because it was a great collision of her love of people and the application of the science and biology she loved in college.
“I love that my intellectual curiosity can serve the health and well-being of others," she said.
The choice of Pediatrics was easy.
“Pediatrics is simply the cutest and most fun of all the specialties. An investment in the health of a child is an investment in the future," she said. “Pediatrics is also a partnership with parents; a service to both parent and child."
Dr. Whaley received her medical degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison Medicine Medical School in Madison, Wisconsin. She completed her internship in pediatrics and residency in pediatrics at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center at the Children's Hospital at Dartmouth (CHaD) in Lebanon, New Hampshire.
Outside of work, she and her family enjoy downhill, cross country and water skiing kayaking, surfing, boating and travel, including backpacking in the Upper Peninsula or hiking in Alaska.
