Dr. Abdou Elhendy, a cardiologist, specializes in echocardiography, nuclear cardiology,
cardiac stress testing and risk stratification.
He joined Marshfield Clinic in 2006, saying
that it fulfilled his desire to work for a
multispecialty group that offered the
resources to enhance his patients’ care.
“My motivation is to help develop and further
the techniques we use to treat, manage and
prevent heart disease,” Dr. Elhendy said.
To this end, he has authored more than
240 papers on cardiac imaging in peer-reviewed
journals; contributed to published
national guidelines for performing stress
echocardiography; and written chapters for continuing medical education from the American College of Cardiology and the American Society of Nuclear Medicine.
Dr. Elhendy earned his medical degree
at Cairo University-Faculty of Medicine, Egypt. He completed residencies in cardiovascular disease at Cairo University Hospital, and in internal medicine at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, Omaha. He completed fellowships in cardiology at Thoraxcenter, Rotterdam, Netherlands, and in echocardiography at Mayo Clinic-Mayo School of Health Sciences, Rochester, Minnesota.
He is board-certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular disease, nuclear cardiology, echocardiography and cardiac CT. He serves
as a clinical associate professor of medicine
at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health, Madison.
