Welcome to our Child Life & Expressive Therapies internship opportunities.
Our team offers three 15-week internships during the fall, spring, and summer. However, we will not be offering a Summer 2023 internship. Our program is *accredited by Association of Child Life Professionals (ACLP).
As a Child Life intern, you'll work directly with our Certified Child Life Specialists to care for patients at Marshfield Children's Hospital at Marshfield Medical Center, a 250 bed tertiary care teaching hospital and Level II trauma center.
Additionally, interns rotate through Marshfield Clinic Health System locations including 24 clinics, outpatient surgery centers and radiology departments.
We will not be having Fall 2024 student interns.
What to expect as a Child Life intern
As an intern, you are responsible for a variety of readings, weekly focus papers, observations and projects.
We ask you to keep daily logs for your weekly summaries. Logs should include:
- Procedural observations
- Shadowing of other health care professionals
- Step-by-step descriptions of your activities
- Analysis of your observations and performance
- Comments in relation to your assigned readings
Additionally, your supervisor guides you through various projects, meetings, case studies, trainings and assessments.

*What does it mean to be ACLP accredited? 
Accredited internship programs ensure high-quality services. As of 2020, approximately 70 child life internship programs were accredited through ACLP. Our Children's Hospital is one of three locations in Wisconsin with accredited child life internships.
