Jerard Jensen has been named General Counsel for the Marshfield Clinic Health System (MCHS) and began Monday, April 13, in this newly-created role.
"Jerard brings a wealth of experience to our organization," said Dr. Susan Turney, MCHS chief executive officer (CEO). "He has a tremendous depth and breadth of knowledge, a high level of energy and a demeanor that will help our organization as we move forward at a critical time in health care. We're tasked to make the best decisions for our patients and communities and he will help carry that through."
Jensen, a Milwaukee native, brings more than 25 years of experience as regional managing shareholder and a health care attorney in the Madison office of Milwaukee-based Whyte Hirschboeck Dudek S.C.
Jensen has long had a keen interest in health care and as an attorney has worked with many health care clients. "Health care is a primary issue in our country today and the biggest issue for most Americans at a time of great change and challenge," he said. "It's an area where I can bring my skills to bear and achieve some good; help MCHS change in a positive way and make a difference."
He has worked with health care organizations in transition. "I've had opportunities to work with management and boards of directors in that context and assisted them in achieving goals which typically involved recreating themselves internally and externally," he said. "Helping them achieve greater success for their organizations and the groups they serve is work that I find highly rewarding.
"As a Wisconsin resident, I have always seen Marshfield Clinic as an icon," he added. "I'm excited to come on board to serve the Marshfield Clinic Health System in the middle of the most challenging time for the most important industry in America today."
Jensen earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh; completed a New York City Urban Fellowship; received his juris doctor degree and was a Wisconsin Law Review editor and member of the Order of the Coif at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
He is a member of the State Bar of Wisconsin and affiliated with the American Health Lawyers Association and Corporate and Health Law Sections, Wisconsin Bar Association.
