Patient services to expand with new construction at Marshfield Medical Center-Minocqua

July 7, 2021

MINOCQUA – Marshfield Clinic Health System is excited to announce construction plans that will create more space for patient services at Marshfield Medical Center-Minocqua and building on the commitment we've made to Minocqua and surrounding communities.

This project will create additional inpatient rooms, enhance emergency and urgent care, enlarge the pharmacy, expand respiratory therapy services, increase the size of family waiting areas for surgery and OB patients, and allow for more hospital and clinic parking space.

“The opening of the hospital in June 2020 brought a true modern, integrated medical campus to the Northwoods," said Dr. Michael Schaars, vice president of medical affairs. “Since that time, we've seen a growth in the demand that exists in the region that requires additional capacity for inpatients and space to accommodate providers and staff."

Since last June, the Marshfield Medical Center-Minocqua has

  • Provided hospital care to nearly 1,000 patients
  • Delivered 229 babies
  • Performed more than 4,000 inpatient and outpatient surgeries
  • Provided care for more than 6,000 emergency department visits
  • Expanded access to more than 25 specialties, including state-of-the-art world-class cancer care, neurology, cardiology, dermatology, pulmonology, neurology, urology and more.
  • Launched new licensed critical care transport ambulances to serve our patients in Minocqua and Park Falls staffed 24/7 with critical care level paramedics and nurses, the highest level of care recognized by the State of Wisconsin.
  • Performed 14,300 COVID-19 tests and administered 5,000 COVID-19 vaccines.

Additionally, an expanded campus allows more specialty care to patients across northern Wisconsin and throughout northern Michigan.

“It is our Health System's belief that the Minocqua community should have easy access to primary, specialty and hospital care delivered in a timely manner where they choose to receive it," said Ty Erickson, chief administrative officer. “We've made a commitment to doing just that, and we look forward to serving the community for generations to come."
