BEAVER DAM – A celebration and ribbon cutting highlighted Marshfield Clinic Health System's growing presence in the Beaver Dam area.
The Health System announced May 1 that it completed the affiliation with Beaver Dam Community Hospital. On Tuesday, it was time to celebrate that affiliation and to unveil the hospital's new name – Marshfield Medical Center-Beaver Dam.
"We know that this is a tumultuous time in rural health care across the country," Marshfield Clinic Health System CEO Dr. Susan Turney said. "Many small communities are seeing health care services diminish or disappear. In response, we have been very focused on establishing a robust presence across rural Wisconsin so that our patients and families have the care they need close to home."
The health system has recently invested in hospitals in Minocqua, Neillsville, Ladysmith, Marshfield and Rice Lake.
Beaver Dam Mayor Rebecca Glewen and former BDCH Board President Jim Kirsh also spoke about the importance of local health care, particularly in rural areas.
The two organizations have already begun integrating services, expanding the level of services offered and broadening access to new programs and technology.
As a result of the integration, the following medical clinics and services were renamed:
Marshfield Medical Center-Beaver Dam – Beaver Dam Clinic
Marshfield Medical Center-Beaver Dam – Columbus Center
Marshfield Medical Center-Beaver Dam – Horicon Center
Marshfield Medical Center-Beaver Dam – Juneau Center
