Dr. Frank Leon, Jr., deals with disorders of the gastrointestinal (GI) tract by performing colonoscopies and GI endoscopies.
He has been at Marshfield Clinic Health System since 2004. It was a career move that began with a word-of-mouth recommendation from a friend and medical colleague who grew up in Wisconsin.
Both colonoscopies and GI endocopies allow him to examine the lining of a patient’s intestines using a small camera that is attached to a thin, flexible tube. This enables him to diagnose and treat inflammation, ulcers, polyps and tumors. He is especially interested in advanced endoscopic techniques such as complex colon polyp work and gastro-intestinal bleeding.
When caring for his patients, Dr. Leon believes there is always a mix of education and collaboration. “I try to help them better understand their symptoms and the procedures I recommend,” he said.
Dr. Leon is married with children and in his spare time enjoys digital
photography of nature.
He earned his medical degree from Kansas City University of Medicine & Biosciences in Missouri. Dr. Leon completed his residency in gastroenterology at Henry Ford Health System – Henry Ford Hospital in Michigan. He is board certified in internal medicine and gastroenterology.
