“I enjoy being able to have a direct impact on patients’ lives, especially with something as significant as breast cancer.”
Dr. James Kinsella is a radiologist who
specializes in breast imaging. He chose
to specialize in the diagnosis of breast
cancer because of the impact this
disease has upon the community.
“The patients I see are understandably
nervous. My focus is not only on
providing them with the answers they
are looking for, but also the care and
direction that they need,” he said.
“I try to put myself in their shoes and
treat each patient as I would want my
wife or mother treated,” he said. “I would
certainly hope my patients would say
that I cared, and that they felt confident
they were receiving excellent care.”
Dr. Kinsella and his wife, Elissa, are both
natives of Niagara, in far northeast
Wisconsin. Both still have families in that
area, which was a factor in their deciding to come to Marshfield Clinic Health System. They both also like the Eau Claire area, their home since 2012.
He received most of his schooling in Wisconsin, earning his medical degree at The Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee. He ventured to Dallas, Texas for his radiology residency at Baylor University Medical Center, and then returned to Wisconsin for his fellowship in breast imaging at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health in Madison.
Dr. Kinsella enjoys family time and pastoring his local church. He and Elissa have 7 children, Devin, Jalyn, Mason, Ian, Elena, Daniel, and John.
