Marshfield Clinic welcomed Dr. Sueyi Lai in 2015. She provides complete cancer care for people in the Northwoods.

“I chose to come here because I wanted to come back to the Midwest. When I visited, I fell in love with the beauty of the Northwoods and the warmth of its people,” said Dr. Lai.

In her spare time, Dr. Lai enjoys traveling, exploring new cities and restaurants, running, hiking, dancing ballet and volunteering. Her professional interests include research on immunotherapy in solid tumors with a special interest in gastrointestinal malignancies.

“The physicians here are passionate, with a collective vision for outstanding healthcare. I am part of a team that provides comprehensive clinical care with multidisciplinary support and has the availability for clinical research participation. I also value that the Clinic actively partakes in educating our younger peers, promoting mentorship,” she said.

Dr. Lai has been active in service to AIDS awareness and fundraising organizations, and has volunteered to support the Red Cross and cancer research fundraising. She also volunteers with the Malaysia-US Chamber of Commerce based in Washington DC. Her background is Malaysian and she speaks Chinese dialects, Malay and English fluently.

Dr. Lai earned her medical degree at Dalhousie University in Nova Scotia, Canada.
