“It
is rewarding to see someone who was vulnerable get better and leave the
hospital.”
Dr. Sarah Komanapalli chose to stay in Marshfield after completing her internal medicine residency at Marshfield Clinic/ Ministry Saint Joseph's Hospital. "The residency program here is awesome and we had a good exposure to both acute care and chronic conditions," she said. "I also like the small-town atmosphere because I grew up in a similar community."
Dr. Komanapalli (pronounced "ko-ma-na- PAL-lee) grew up in India but earned her medical degree in nearby Nepal. In addition to her residency in Marshfield, she spent an additional three years in internal medicine training in Scotland and successfully completed two parts of MRCP-UK, the postgraduate degree. She also spent two years in residencies in India and Nepal. Having the varied experiences has helped her to thrive in intense and demanding situations.
"This is a tertiary care hospital, so inpatient medicine is complex, intellectually challenging and very satisfying. We have an excellent multi-specialty team here," she said.
She enjoys traveling to visit her large family, which is scattered between India, the United Kingdom and the United States. She also enjoys tennis, taking photos and listening to contemporary music.
