Neeka Koepl, emergency medicine nurse practitioner, sees patients of all ages for urgent and emergency concerns, like rashes, sore throats and lacerations that need suturing.
Neeka Koepl was drawn to practicing medicine at an early age when she was positively impacted by multiple health professionals. She saw the unfortunate lack of accessibility to care within the rural area she grew up in.
“I knew I wanted to increase accessibility to medical care in rural areas and allow for continued growth of my knowledge and skillset in order to assist others with health promotion," Neeka said.
She received her bachelor of science in nursing degree from Chamberlain University in 2019. In February 2020, she joined Marshfield Clinic Health System as a registered nurse, while pursuing a master of science in nursing degree with a family nurse practitioner specialty.
Neeka graduated with her master of science in nursing degree from Chamberlain University in 2021. She is dually certified as a family nurse practitioner by the American Association of Nurse Practitioners and the American Nurses Credentialing Center.
Neeka said she's passionate about emergency medicine because it encompasses all her favorite things – evaluating and treating patients of all ages, making complex medical decision-making required for a variety of conditions and it provides an opportunity to do many procedures.
Patient and family-centered care is at the core of her practice. She's also passionate about providing education for her patients.
“Staying current with evidence-based research and using active listening to create individualized treatment plans are some most important elements in providing quality patient care," she said.
One of the things she said she is most proud of is earning all three nursing degrees, with honors, while working full time and raising a family.
Outside of emergency medicine, Neeka enjoys fishing, baking, remodeling projects, gardening, volunteering at a local non-profit health care clinic and spending time with her family – her husband, three daughters, stepson and stepdaughter – and their dog.
