“I enjoy the fast-paced environment of the E.R., but also have a special interest in helping patients with sleep disorders.”
Dr. Michael Schaars began his practice at the Marshfield Clinic Minocqua Center in 1998. As a member of the Emergency Medicine department, Dr. Schaars provides emergency care for acute and life-threatening illnesses and injuries in hospital Emergency departments of Howard Young Medical Center and Eagle River Memorial Hospital.
Dr. Schaars diagnoses emergency conditions and undertakes acute interventions to stabilize patients. Dr. Schaars manages multiple patients at a time and is integral in providing treatment to trauma patients, cardiac and respiratory distress, management of drug overdoses as well as other emergency situations.
He also practices Sleep Medicine, providing consultation and treatment for people with sleep disorders such as sleep apnea, restless legs, and narcolepsy.
“In my free time I enjoy outdoor activities like, running, biking, skiing, camping and fishing,” he said. In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Schaars is also a medical chairperson for Marshfield Clinic North Division administration.
Dr. Schaars is a Milwaukee native and attended medical school at the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee. He then completed a Residency in Emergency Medicine at Michigan State University/Kalamazoo Center for Medical Studies and completed a residency at Gundersen Clinic and Lutheran Hospital in La Crosse, Wisconsin. He is a member of the American Medical Association, the American College of Emergency Physicians, is board certified in Emergency Medicine and is licensed to practice in Wisconsin.
