“I enjoy working with patients after surgeries to assist in returning them to functional movement within their daily lives without limitations."
Michael Lubahn is a physical therapist and certified athletic trainer, who helps patients with sports injuries.
He was very involved in athletics from a young age, including hockey, soccer and tennis, which sparked his interest in the human body.
Lubahn has a passion for orthopedics and works to create an individualized plan for each patient.
“I am able to draw from my background in both athletic training and physical therapy to form specific treatment plans for each patient, whether it be a high school athlete getting back to competition or a weekend warrior trying to stay involved," Lubahn said. He works with patients to find goals that fit their lives to they can get back to their daily activities pain free.
Lubahn also helps patients who have temporomandibular joint disorder, or TMD. He's certified in dry-needling which allows him to pin-point pain relief and kick start the healing process. Lubahn uses manual therapy to reduce pain and increase activity. Some of these treatments include: joint mobilizations, instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization and cupping.
“'No pain, no gain,' is a phrase I tend to disagree with, so my goal in therapy is to balance graded activity with manual therapy to gradually increase functional ability within tolerable limits," Lubahn said.
Lubahn earned his doctorate in physical therapy and bachelor's in athletic training at Clarke University in Dubuque, Iowa.
In his free time, he enjoys spending time with family, fishing, water skiing and playing sports.
