While growing up Nurse Practitioner Melissa Bohn watched the health of her grandparents diminish. She wanted to help them but didn't know how, which fueled her desire to work in health care.
She always knew she wanted to take care of others and nursing became a natural path.
“I try to come from a place of passion and empathy but also with a background that is focused and knowledge-based to meet both the emotional and physical needs of patients and their families," Bohn said.
In her role as a heart failure nurse practitioner, Bohn manages patients with symptoms such as shortness of breath, chest pressure, increased swelling, leg edema, lightheadedness/dizziness, orthopnea, paroxysmal nocturnal dyspnea, and activity intolerance.
“Medicine is challenging, ever changing with new treatments, medicines and therapies to help patients attain and maintain a higher quality of life. It is a lifelong journey that patients and I travel together on," she said.
Bohn earned a master's degree in family practice nurse practitioner from Walden University in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and a bachelor's degree in nursing from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire in Eau Claire, Wisconsin.
In her free time, Bohn enjoys playing golf, attending her children's activities and spending time with family.
