“My father was an inspiring figure as he was a
physician, and I grew up attracted toward his profession.”
Hospitalist Maleeha Ajmal, M.D., was inspired to follow in her father's footsteps and become a physician from a very young age.
As a hospitalist, Dr. Ajmal coordinates and cares for patients of all ages and varying conditions.
“Critical patients and their diverse range of disease processes, add excitement to my scope of practice in Internal Medicine," Dr. Ajmal said.
She believes in a patient-centered focus. “A doctor should aspire to be an eager listener and address patient concerns face-to-face," Dr. Ajmal said.
Dr. Ajmal earned her undergraduate degree from Kinnaird College for Women in Lahore, Pakistan. She received her medical degree from Allama Iqbal Medical College in Lahore, Pakistan and completed her internal medicine residency at Marshfield Medical Center in Marshfield.
Early in her residency, Dr. Ajmal knew she wanted to stay on after graduation. “My seniors who did residency here spoke highly of the training program, work environment and the humble patient population. After experiencing this myself I decided to stay here as a hospitalist," she said.
