“I try to find specific ways someone needs to be helped, not just follow guidelines."
Dr. Luis Siliezar was fascinated by medicine.
“It is deeply interesting and building knowledge can make a big impact in someone's life," he said. “We all agree on how important this profession is. I feel proud being a member of it."
Dr. Siliezar received his medical degree from the University of El Salvador in San Salvador, El Salvador. He is board-certified in pediatrics and pediatric endocrinology.
He sees children with diabetes and related problems of carbohydrate metabolism, children with obesity, problems with growth and puberty and other sex hormone differences and imbalances of the thyroid gland. He has a particular interest in children's growth, puberty and adrenal disorders.
“Endocrinology could be someone's hobby. It is extremely interesting and you develop long relationships with patients and their families," he said. “It meets my academic and emotional expectations for a practice."
He strives to inform his patients and families as much as he can on the condition and treatments.
“I think once they understand the situation, they are more active in their care. Some of the conditions I treat require a great deal of time and energy. If there is not appropriate understanding of the condition, it is difficult to follow through."
He also works to personalize each patient's care and try and find specific ways they need to be helped, not just follow the guidelines.
Dr. Siliezar lives in Marshfield with his wife, two sons and their aussiedoodle. He enjoys music, particularly the guitar. He also enjoys cooking for his family.
