“Caring for the most vulnerable – the young children who can’t speak for themselves – is what motivates me each day.”

Provider Bio down arrow

Dr. Kristen Iniguez specializes in caring for children who are potential victims of abuse. At the Marshfield Child Advocacy Center, she provides comprehensive medical exams to evaluate for possible abuse, including physical and sexual abuse, neglect, and witness to violence. She provides consultation services to physicians for children hospitalized with suspicious injuries.

A board-certified provider, Dr. Iniguez has been with Marshfield Clinic Health System since 2011. As medical director of the Marshfield Child Advocacy Center, she actively provides education on child abuse to providers, pediatric residents and medical students. Dr. Iniguez works with community members through outreach and educational events.

She works as part of a multidisciplinary team – made up of physicians, social workers, a behavioral health therapist, child advocates, law enforcement officers and the district attorney's office – all with the same focus of helping children who suffer from maltreatment.

“I have a passion to help children, particularly those who have been abused or experienced other significant psychological trauma," she said. As a team, we at the Marshfield Child Advocacy Center strive to provide truly comprehensive care for these children, with a focus on medical, behavioral, emotional and educational health, to help ensure success in adulthood."

Dr. Iniguez received her medical degree from the Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine and is board certified in pediatrics. She is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. She has been a member of several task forces to increase awareness of child abuse in both the public and the medical community, as well as a legislative council in Madison to effect change on legislation for mandated reporting of child abuse. In 2016, she was admitted into the Ray Helfer Society, which honors physicians who have been recognized by their peers as experts and leaders in the field of child abuse and neglect.
