“I most enjoy being able to find connections with patients, no matter how long or short of a time that I get to spend with them."
Board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner Krista Henderson loves to share knowledge and enrich the lives of her patients to help them make informed decisions about their health care.
Krista was always interested in science and research while growing up in the Marshfield area and knew a medical career was in her future. “It did not take me long into my career to realize that I truly enjoy helping people by teaching, caring for and comforting them through whatever situation they were facing," she said.
Krista sees patients of all age groups for routine health maintenance, to manage chronic diseases such as hypertension, diabetes or asthma, and to care for patients who are acutely ill or injured.
“I feel that the most important elements of providing patient care are hearing, not just listening, to a patient's needs, and meeting them where they are with their health care priorities," Krista said.
In her role as a family nurse practitioner, Krista believes that she can have a positive influence on the decisions her patients make.
Krista earned a bachelor's degree in nursing from Tennessee Wesleyan College in Athens, Tennessee, and a master of science degree in nursing/family nurse practitioner from Concordia University in Mequon.
“I decided that I wanted to focus more on the preventive side of patient care through family practice after seeing the impact that life choices can have on a patient's quality of life over time," she said.
Krista began her nursing career in Tennessee before moving back to Wisconsin and joining Marshfield Clinic Health System in 2014.
Krista and her husband have two children and own a small farm. She enjoys camping, playing board games with her children and helping with church and school functions.
