“I enjoy seeing the ‘complete picture’
of pregnancy, to achieve the best
outcomes for mother and infant.”
Dr. Kazumasa Hashimoto specializes in
maternal-fetal medicine, focusing on
the medical and surgical management
of high-risk pregnancies. His practice
includes monitoring and treatment
procedures such as comprehensive
ultrasound, sampling of the fluid that
surrounds the fetus and fetal treatment.
After engaging in broad-based basic
science research in his native Japan,
Dr. Hashimoto realized he was more
interested in bringing the benefits of
research directly to clinical patients.
“Connecting the knowledge we gain from
research to actual practice helps us in our
goal of making even the most difficult
deliveries as comfortable as possible,”
he said. “This area of practice affects not
only the health of newborn infants, but
the health of their mothers as well.”
His approach to treating his patients reflects his desire to nurture positive outcomes. “For mothers dealing with complicated conditions, it is important for me to listen and establish trust by being open and providing the information they need.”
He joined Marshfield Clinic Health System after being impressed in general by its medical care and facilities, and in particular by its position as a leading destination for patients who require care for serious obstetric conditions.
Dr. Hashimoto earned a Ph.D. and his medical degree at Osaka University, Japan. He completed his residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Lincoln Medical and Mental Health Center, the Bronx, New York, and a fellowship in fetal-maternal medicine at the University of Maryland, Baltimore.
