“I like patients to feel like they're listened to and are part of the decision process."
Heather Vogel is a physical therapist who helps patients to improve their mobility to live life to their fullest potential.
Vogel was planning to be a veterinarian but changed her mind in college after observing physical therapists in action.
“I liked how they were able to help people get back to their activities," Vogel said. “I like to treat patients the way I would like to be treated, personal and caring."
Working health care in a rural area allows Vogel the chance to treat patients in a place that feels like home.
“I'm glad to be able to treat patients in a rural area similar to where I grew up," Vogel said. “I enjoy working with people of all ages and I get to learn something new every day."
Vogel enjoys working at the Colby/Abbotsford Therapy center and travels to Marshfield a few days each week. She sees a variety of patients including children with special needs.
“I would hope my patients would say they felt like they came away from therapy with answers to their questions and things they could do to help improve their quality of life," Vogel said. “And that they were treated with respect and received good care."
Vogel holds a master's degree in physical therapy from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She is married with three kids. In her spare time, Vogel enjoys spending time with her family, reading and going for walks.
