“Working as a family medicine nurse practitioner will allow me to partner with my patients to advocate for preventative services and disease prevention."
Halie Ciokiewicz, family medicine nurse practitioner, chose to pursue a career in the health care field to care for and help individuals and families through some of their most vulnerable times.
“This desire to care for others led me to nursing," Ciokiewicz said. “From my experience working as a bedside nurse on a post-surgical cardiac unit, my desire to improve preventive care and health promotion activities led me to further my education."
As a nurse practitioner, she works with patients on preventive care, performs wellness exams, diagnoses and treats acute health concerns and helps manage chronic diseases. She's passionate about women's health and weight management.
“My hope is for my patients to feel heard, respected and well-informed. As a health care provider, I strive to see every patient as a whole, unique individual. Listening to my patients to find out what is most important to them will assist me in partnership and empowering my patients to reach their health and wellness goals," Ciokiewicz said.
Ciokiewicz shared working in family medicine provides the ability to develop long-standing relationships with patients of all ages and their families.
“Getting to know my patients on a more personal level can help me best serve my patients."
When not working in the clinic, you'll find her spending time with family and being outdoors.
“I live with my husband and our two young daughters out in the country," Ciokiewicz said. “We love to spend our time outdoors, whether hiking, biking or gardening. Our two golden retrievers love to join in on the fun, too."
