Dr. Ferry Gunawan chose hospital medicine because it is rewarding to work as a team managing a patient's care plan.
"It's fulfilling to see patients improve each day from their acute and/or chronic illnesses," Dr. Gunawan said.
Dr. Gunawan joined Marshfield Clinic Health System because the organization aligned with his focus as a hospitalist, which is to provide high quality medicine and affordable health care to patients.
He said the most important elements in providing care are being compassionate to actively listen to a patient's concerns, advocate and address their concerns, to the extent of achieving their understanding and satisfaction.
Dr. Gunawan earned his medical degree from Pelita Harapan University – Faculty of Medicine in Lippo, Indonesia. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Greater Baltimore Medical Center in Towson, Maryland.
