Elise Edwards-Cavalieri, M.D., started her career as an athletic trainer, but wanted to do more for her patients and knew medicine would give her the additional tools to take care to the next step.
“I felt drawn to the variety and unpredictability of obstetrics and gynecology initially," she said. “I then developed a fierce passion to meet the needs of this patient population and fight for reproductive justice."
As an OB-GYN physician, Dr. Edwards cares for patients through their reproductive years and beyond. She focuses on pregnancy care including preconception, infertility, prenatal care and delivery. Additionally, she cares for women with concern with their periods, vulvar pain or other gynecologic symptoms. Dr. Edwards also can help you with breast concerns, hormonal therapy, menopause and patients who are pregnant and have a substance use disorder.
“I strongly believe in partnering with my patients to find the best solution to their issues, which includes listening to their concerns and ideas on how best to provide that care and pursue safe outcomes," she said.
Born and raised in Iron Mountain, Dr. Edwards knew she wanted to return home to provide care for her community. She enjoys being an educator on issues surrounding sexual health, a provider who partners with her patients to optimize care, an advocate for reproductive justice and diverse populations, and a surgeon who listens to patient concerns and finds solutions.
Outside of work, Dr. Edwards-Cavalieri enjoys paddle boarding, kayaking, cross country skiing, traveling and spending time at home and with her family.
