Dr. Athanasios Soskos grew up in Baghdad,
Iraq, the son of Greek parents who operated
a business in the war-torn city. He lived in
different countries and was happy to settle
in Marshfield, a quiet and peaceful place to
raise his family.
As a hospitalist, he strives to take care of
all issues facing a hospitalized patient.
“I try to spend as much time as I can
getting to know the patient and his or
her background, and making sure they
understand the treatment plan,” he said. “I also like to joke with my patients to help relieve the stress of being in the hospital.”
He and his wife, Jian Khamo-Soskos, M.D.,
both earned their medical degrees in Baghdad. They completed residencies at Marshfield Clinic/Ministry Saint Joseph’s Hospital, in the Med-Peds residency combining internal medicine and
pediatrics. She is practicing in the
Clinic’s Med-Peds Department.
He enjoys playing basketball and doing outdoor activities with his wife and their three young daughters.
