“I am interested in helping children
deal with excess weight gain and
Type 1 diabetes.”
As a pediatric endocrinologist, Dr. Anoop Iqbal specializes in health problems with the endocrine system. The endocrine system is made up of glands that release hormones into the body to regulate metabolism, growth, development and reproduction.
Dr. Iqbal specializes in helping children with weight management, obesity and Type 1 diabetes, which are also his key areas of research.
“My plan is to intervene at an early stage of weight gain, to limit the complications they might suffer in adulthood,” Dr. Iqbal said.
In talking with his patients, Dr. Iqbal makes sure the entire family understands and is involved in formulating the final management plan.
“I like to connect with the child and explain the process to them,” Dr. Iqbal said. “When you connect with the child and talk to them at their level, obviously you make sure they understand everything, but the parents also get a sense of what my thought process is.”
Dr. Iqbal is a board-certified pediatrician, and completed his fellowship in pediatric endocrinology at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. He completed his pediatric residency at Case-Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio.
He and his wife enjoy travelling, and since moving to the Midwest have developed a passion for fishing and hiking.
