Amanda Stenberg, nurse practitioner, has always wanted to help people. Before starting her nursing career, she worked in a factory and while she was actively using her body, she was not using her mind like she wanted.
“A friend who was a nurse talked to me about how she thought I would be good at it," Stenberg said. “That inspired me to go back to school."
She received her Master of Science in nursing degree from Walsh University in North Canton, Ohio. She is a board-certified family nurse practitioner.
She joined Marshfield Clinic Health System first as a registered nurse in the hospital at Marshfield Medical Center-Eau Claire. Now as an internal medicine provider, she's enjoying the rewarding change.
She looks forward to getting to know her patients on a deeper level and how she is impacting their health moving forward.
“I want to make a difference in my patients' lives long-term and help improve their quality of life," Stenberg said. “In internal medicine, I get to meet with my patients over time and see how things are changing."
She provides general primary care for adults, including physical and preventive exams, and has a special interest in diabetes education.
“I enjoy looking at the whole person and providing health care for the whole person, not one specific thing," Stenberg said.
She wants her patients actively involved in their health care to help work toward a common goal.
“My primary goal is to be an active listener and make my patients a big part of what we are trying to accomplish. I work to engage my patients in improving their care and aligning their goals with my goals," she said.
Stenberg is an avid outdoors person and enjoys tennis, kayaking, hiking and biking. She is married and has one son. They have two rescue dogs, named after Star Trek characters.
